Two recent selections are Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education – DeVos is a person who has not attended public schools and her children have never attended public schools. She has no background in education nor any degree in education. What are her qualifications? – she is a billionaire and an extreme supporter of vouchers and charter schools. She has had a hand in demolishing the public school systems in Detroit and Chicago.
The second selection is Wilbur Ross for Secretary of Commerce. Good old Wilbur Bud is known as the ‘king of bankruptcy’ for his hand in ‘corporate restructurings’. I thought Trump was the ‘king’, but I suppose he is only the ‘Prince of Bankruptcy’. Ross takes over companies and shaves costs by altering pay and benefits for workers. (To no surprise, the pay and benefits do not go up.)He was the owner of the Sago mine in West Virginia that exploded and killed a dozen miners. He was responsible for selling the former Bethlehem Steel to a giant Indian steel corporation, Lakshmi Mittal, and he would be responsible as Commerce Secretary for protecting U.S. workers according to Trump’s campaign promise to do the same. Are you kidding me?
So I thought I would take the time to make a few suggestions for Trump to consider for other Cabinet positions:
• Richard Wells for the EPA – Wells is the leader of Union Carbide, the corporation that is responsible for the Bhopal disaster in India.
• Ben Carson for HUD – but wait – he is not qualified to be President or to hold a cabinet position by his own admission. He knows nothing about housing or urban development so that makes him now eminently qualified in a Trump presidency.
• Walter White (from “Breaking Bad’) for DEA. I know, I know, he is a fictional character but that alone makes him as qualified as DeVos and Ross.
Does this all seem like a Bizarro world? Trump voters, this is what you have chosen, but it is not too late to do something about that. Contact your Senator (here it would be the corporate stooge, Toomey.) Tell him to wake up his conscience and vote against DeVos and Ross.
